Our Attorneys
Lisa Mathews, JD/MBA
Managing Attorney and Founder
Lisa founded Mathews Law in 2018 with the belief that a friendly and approachable perspective to law is the key to better client experiences. Estate Planning has been a focus of Mathews Law since the beginning and is now the cornerstone of Lisa’s practice. A proud graduate cum laude from Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University with an MBA from Indiana University and a B.A. from Brigham Young University, Lisa is licensed in both Virginia and Maryland. Lisa is also an adjunct professor at her alma mater. Prior to law school, she worked at Fidelity Investments as a people and project manager for 12 years gaining extensive knowledge of the retirement industry.
She is also the co-founder of Acclivity, a training company for lawyers.
Beyond the legal realm, Lisa enjoys quality time with her nephews, playing the flute, and cruising around Old Town, Alexandria on her bike.
Perry Jones, JD
Associate Attorney
Perry joined Mathews Law as Associate Attorney in 2026. Perry is licensed to practice law in Virginia. She is a graduate of Los Angeles’s Southwestern Law School, where she completed the S.C.A.L.E. accelerated program, graduated in the top 10% of her class, and was a 2022 Biederman Scholar. She holds a B.A. from George Mason University.
Prior to joining Mathews Law, Perry was engaged at a general practice covering a broad range of practice areas. Perry is passionate about getting to know her clients and making sure their wants and needs are met exactly.
Perry lives in Reston, Virginia with her husband and their golden retriever. She enjoys hiking and downhill skiing.

Amanda Syphus
Director of Operations
Amanda joined Mathews Law in 2020. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team, having earned her B.A. in Political Science from Brigham Young University and later obtaining an M.A. in Teaching from Texas Woman’s University. With a remarkable background spanning over 10 years as a high school social studies teacher, Amanda’s attention to detail and organizational skills make her an invaluable asset to our clients. Behind the scenes, Amanda is the unsung hero ensuring that Mathews Law runs seamlessly, with a personal touch that reflects our commitment to excellence.
Beyond her professional expertise, Amanda cherishes her free time spent with family, exploring new destinations through travel, immersing herself in a good book, and giving back to the community through volunteering.
Patti Papworth
Outreach and Marketing Coordinator
Patti leads outreach to business partners and the community. She helps Mathews Law put our best foot forward with our marketing efforts and represents us with warmth and enthusiasm. With a background in teaching and a B.A. in Vocal Performance from Utah State University, she brings creativity, organization, and a caring approach to every project.
Outside of work, Patti enjoys performing with a women’s vocal ensemble, organizing and decorating homes, and spending time with her family. Her love of music and people reflects the warmth she brings to Mathews Law.
Rohey Sanyang
Client Service Coordinator
Rohey is our compassionate Client Service Coordinator who plays a vital role in supporting clients throughout their journey with Mathews Law. Currently pursuing a degree in Legal Studies at the University of Maryland Global Campus, Rohey brings a strong background in customer service along with valuable experience from her internship with the International Rescue Committee. Her dedication to helping others and passion for social issues shine through in every client interaction, making her a trusted and empathetic point of contact.
Outside the office, Rohey enjoys creating beautiful henna designs, arranging flower bouquets, and exploring new cultures through learning and connection.
Isabel Sebra
Law Clerk
Isabel joined Mathews Law in 2026 as a Law Clerk, where she supports our operations and client service. A 2026 graduate of the University of Oregon School of Law, she also holds a B.S. in Family Studies from Brigham Young University. Isabel is a friendly and welcoming presence for our clients and brings genuine care to every interaction. Her warmth and thoughtful follow-through help ensure that each client feels well supported at every step.
Isabel is fluent in Spanish. Outside of work, she loves to crochet toys for her nephews and travel the world with her husband.
Cathy Blowers
Signing Coordinator and Office Assistant
Cathy coordinates every estate plan signing, assembling the necessary team of witnesses and notaries and leading signings at both our Vienna and Alexandria offices. She also carefully prepares and assembles each client’s estate planning documents in advance, helping ensure every signing is organized, accurate, and seamless. Her friendly, caring approach helps put clients at ease as they reach this important milestone in their estate planning journey. In addition to supporting our client signings, Cathy helps keep our offices organized and well supplied and manages client-related mailings.
Outside of work, Cathy enjoys gardening, birdwatching, and, most of all, spending time with her granddaughter.
